Restoring a Wreck
Introduction
I’m calling myself Franklin and I’m married to a beautiful wife whom I’ll call Sandra. We have been married for almost twice the years we have been single. Sandra has witnessed how the wreck became a wreck and also witness some of the restoration. The deterioration of the beautiful original design took place over a number of year, actually since the assemble of it was completed. There were many neglects and a lack of nurturing in vital areas of it’s life. It eventually landed in the ditch and became a chicken coop. It is there that the Restorer noticed the wreck, saw the value and treasure in it and decided to rescue, recover and restore it. That wreck was Franklin who had forgotten what his value, worth, and treasure he actually was and still is. Sandra met Franklin when he was already in quite a deteriorated state. Both broken, especially on the inside, married without the foresight of what challenges lay ahead for both of them. The Restorer is God, a good and caring God, that carefully and methodically, striped the wreck and started putting the pieces together again bringing Franklin ever closer to his original design.
This writing may help some people to identify with Franklin as well as with Sandra to see what happened that he became a wreck and she suffered under it. The journey needed to restore him was and is a long one filled with much pain, but also with rewards. It’s a spiritual journey in which a loving, caring and just God is the main character. Without the golden thread of His hand on this journey the end would have been a disaster.
This is not a DIY text for a solo journey, but an account of moving from shame to grace in safe community.
